Welcome! This web site is here to provide you with an introduction to the traditional Roman Liturgy. It is hoped that by this introduction you will be enriched in your Catholic Faith.
Much of the material here is simply my opinion, which developed from careful reflection upon the liturgy I so love and admire. Yet, I cannot deny that like everyone else, my opinions were affected by those of others, so I have made every effort to credit the proper sources where necessary. Not every Catholic who attends the traditional Roman Liturgy will agree with my interpretations; they are simply the fruit of devotion and not of scholarly research.
In my little effort to praise the traditional Roman Liturgy, I am not seeking to ignore the wealth and importance of the many other rites within the Catholic Church. In fact, they are all equal, and none should be ignored. The II Vatican Council said that "holy Mother Church holds all lawfully acknowledged rites to be of equal right and dignity; that she wishes to preserve them in the future and to foster them in every way."(Sacrosanctum Concilium 4) I only seek to speak of that which I am familiar with and encourage others to do the same.
My hope is that by means of this apology I may dispel several misconceptions about the traditional liturgy, as well as be able to answer a few questions by bringing out the depths of meaning that I have found present in the liturgical texts. My purpose as a whole, however, is to make it clear that the traditional Roman Rite needs to be preserved and promoted because it is an invaluable treasure to the Church.
To conclude this short introduction, I would like to add that I do not intend to compare the traditional Roman Rite with its modern counterpart, nor even talk of the modern Roman Rite at any length. I find this to be a generally fruitless endeavor. I do not believe that the merits of one rite are discovered by searching for faults in the other. That is faulty logic. By the terms "traditional" and "modern", I mean simply "old" and "new", and I am not of the opinion that the modern Roman Rite is devoid of the Apostolic Tradition. In fact, I find this assertion to be nonsensical, and that no properly instructed Catholic should hold it.
I am in full communion with the Catholic Church, and I do not in any way support the schisms or heresy promoted by some who use the traditional liturgy as an excuse to justify their disobedience to the Magisterium or their ignorance of the Catholic Faith. This is a shame which must be disregarded, and in no way used to discourage this venerable rite.
God bless you in Christ through Mary.
